Pinky Gomez #33
Miami’s Vice City Rollers
I own my own Graphic Design Company, Spinning Instructor, Reiki Master
How long have you been skating?
I’ve been skating since I was a little girl. I never had the opportunity to skate at a rink, but I literally wore them everyday.. skating on the street and I even did my household chores on skates…
Why did you get involved in roller derby?
I remember the first time I saw roller derby on TV, I fell in love & vowed one day I would be one of those girls on the track.
I practice at least 3 times a week and wear my skates around the house whenever I can.
What Pads do you use?
I use 187 pro knee and elbow pads as well as their wrist guards. They have saved my knees on more than one occasion.
I have a pink Triple 8 roller derby helmet.
I have the Riedell Wicked Derby Skates… great skates!
Where did your nick name come from?
Pinky Gomez has always been my alter ego. Gomez being my mother’s maiden name, made this the perfect opportunity to honor her.
What is your favourite part about being a Roller girl? Hitting is great! But, my favorite part is the camaraderie that you develop with your teammates. You truly become family with the other girls. When you are on the track, the trust & confidence you share with the girls around you is powerful and priceless. Not to mention all the other people you meet that share the love of this great sport.
This is my first year at derby and hopefully there will be many more.
