How long have you been skating?
I’ve been skating since I was a little girl. I never had the opportunity to skate at a rink, but I literally wore them everyday.. skating on the street and I even did my household chores on skates…

Why did you get involved in roller derby?
I remember the first time I saw roller derby on TV, I fell in love & vowed one day I would be one of those girls on the track.

How often do you practice?
I practice at least 3 times a week and wear my skates around the house whenever I can.

What Pads do you use?
I use 187 pro knee and elbow pads as well as their wrist guards. They have saved my knees on more than one occasion.

What Helmet do you use?
I have a pink Triple 8 roller derby helmet.
What skates do you use?
I have the Riedell Wicked Derby Skates… great skates!

Where did your nick name come from?
Pinky Gomez has always been my alter ego. Gomez being my mother’s maiden name, made this the perfect opportunity to honor her.

What is your favourite part about being a Roller girl?
Hitting is great! But, my favorite part is the camaraderie that you develop with your teammates. You truly become family with the other girls. When you are on the track, the trust & confidence you share with the girls around you is powerful and priceless. Not to mention all the other people you meet that share the love of this great sport.

Any top tips for up and coming Derby Superstars? YOU’RE NEVER TOO OLD! Being the oldest one on the team, I just turned 40 in January, I can tell you this has been the most exciting and fulfilling adventure of my life. You are only limited by your own doubt. Take life by the balls and GO FOR IT!

This is my first year at derby and hopefully there will be many more.
