Hulls Angels Roller Dames

Head NSO, in real life I’m a Lecturer in Workforce Development

How long have you been involved in Roller Derby?
2 and a half years

Why did you get involved in roller derby?
Because my sisters (Tricky Barmby (biological) RaeZor Lite (anothermister)) went along to a Lincolnshire Bombers taster day and I didn’t go because I was in a mood, then I was really jealous because it all sounded so awesome. 2 years later, I am Head NSO and sit on the HARD Management committee, roller derby has taken over my life.

What is your favourite part about being part of the Roller Derby scene?
Team spirit.

How did you learn what you needed to do for your role?
Lots and lots of videos on YouTube, and Zebra Huddle forum discussions. I got a lot of advice from the lovely Ickle Badger of Newcastle and gave me loads of help when I did penalty tracking under her awesome supervision (first HARD open bout). HWRD and SSRG NSOs both helped in my journey, by answering lots of daft questions and giving me the opportunity to try out different roles.

Any top tips for those that want to be NSO superstars?
Watch as many bouts as possible, as a lot of teams put on double headers and us long term Head NSOs are always crying out for people to NSO, so, see if you can NSO one and watch one, the roles are much easier to do when you start to understand why they are important.

Get yourself a Dave (he’s my favourite) The HARD penalty box supervisor.
