Polly Filla

Almost a year

Why did you get involved in roller derby?
I saw a stall at a local arts/culture fair in Belfast and I though it seemed EPIC!

Twice a week…sometimes head to the local roller rink for some leisurely skating!

What Pads do you use?
Just changed from Scabs to 187s Knees…LOVE THEM. Like falling on pillows!

What Helmet do you use?
A basic California Pro Helmet…does the job atm.

What skates do you use?
Suregrip Rebel Avengers with the forward mounted D45 Plate…took me a while to get used to the plates but they’re great skates.

What were your first pair of skates?
Anarchy Mayhems

Where did your nick name come from?
My coach once commented that I was like polly filler because I fill in all the gaps in the wall while blocking…that evolved to Polly Filla.

What is your favourite part about being a Roller girl?
I love the team camaraderie, the outfits, increasing my fitness and generally just playing roller derby it’s just a great sport!

Any top tips for up and coming Derby Superstars?
Give it a go!! Focus on perfecting your knee falls so you’re not scared of falling, ‘the fear’ will hold you back from progressing your skills! And once you crack it all you’ll fall in love with it!!
