Where did your nick name come from?
My favourite movie ever is Full Metal Jacket. The main character in it is nick named ‘Private Joker’ and I thought ‘Private Choke-Her’ was a funny spin on it.

What is your favourite part about being a Roller girl?
I love playing the sport. I’m very competitive and active so this is great outlet for me. It’s also a great conversation starter.

Any top tips for up and coming Derby Superstars?

-Do NOT give up. No matter how much your lungs hurt, your legs shake, or your back hurts. It WILL get easier with practice.

– Don’t drop out of a speed or endurance drill! Your teammates will push or pull you along until you can do it yourself. Some of us have cried from the pain in our lungs from a fast pace line but our teammates were (literally) behind us, giving us a push to take some of the burden off.

-NEVER let anyone intimidate you. We are not tougher than you. We were all just as scared and lost on our first day. Anyone trying to intimidate you is just an insecure asshole.
