How long have you been skating?
1 year, 4 months
Why did you get involved in roller derby?
Because I needed something active to do as I was gaining some unnecessary pounds. I knew that I had to do something about it, so I stepped bravely forwards and gave this a go.
How often do you practice?
2-5 hours a week and outdoor skating when possible
What Pads do you use?
Pro-Design pads all the way
What Helmet do you use?
Two helmets: black with a scarecrow and crows all over it and a rusty-green steampunk design with cogs.
What skates do you use?
Riedell, but I’m currently after better ones.
What were your first pair of skates?
Rubbish pink ones, with rubbish wheels and rubbish everything
Where did your nickname come from?
I figured that in Roller Derby you have to always make that split second decision of where you want to go, what you want to do and who you’re going to knock down.
What is your favourite part about being a Roller girl?
It keeps me fit, I have a derby wife and we have a laugh.
Any top tips for up and coming Derby Superstars?
Don’t ever give up. Be brave. There are too many times in this sport where you get knocked down and it takes every ounce of your strength to get back up. Ignore the voice in your head that’s telling you that you can’t do it, because you damn well can.
